Airlines Cancelled More Than 2,700 Friday Flights
Airlines have already decided to cancel over and above 2,700 flights this Friday due to their preparation for a storm that impends to dump up to 3 feet of snow from New York City to Boston.
Flight-tracking website FlightAware displays 728 cancellations at the three big airports in the New York area. Another 191 flights to or from Boston have been scrubbed, and 137 in Toronto.
Airlines gave out so-called “weather waivers,” permitting passengers flying in the storm-affected extents to make some alterations regarding their flight date without paying a change fee.
Airlines attempt to get in advance of big storms by terminating flights beforehand rather than crossing their fingers that they can operate in bad weather.
