Shellfish Beds In Barnegat Bay Are Open Once Again

Once again, some of the shellfish beds in Barnegat Bay are open.

The shellfish beds were reopened last Tuesday by the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection in south of the Route 37 bridge in Toms River, lengthening to Oyster Creek in Lacey Township.

Since October 29, the shellfish beds were closed as a part of a statewide closure of all New Jersey shellfish beds to commercial and recreational harvesting because of the issues concerning the degraded water quality as an effect of the Superstorm Sandy.
