Nation’s Oldest Nuclear Power Plant Is Offline

Due to the necessity for refueling and maintenance, the known Oyster Creek nuclear power plant is offline.

To be able to replace about a third of its fuel, the owners of the oldest nuclear power plant of the nation decided to make it offline since early Monday. The laborers will also perform a nuclear power plant maintenance and this can only be performed when the power plant is not generating power.

However, it was not stated about how long will it take to be offline.

It is due to close in the year 2019.

The nuclear power plant transmits enough electricity supply to light up 600,000 homes or approximately all the houses in Ocean and Monmouth counties when combined.
